A CPR and first aid instructor is the person who provides first aid and CPR training through which students acquire the skills required to perform emergency care in the event of an accident or cardio-respiratory distress. He can also supervise first aid courses.
Thus, this professional must himself master resuscitation techniques as well as the use of equipment such as the cardiac defibrillator. Therefore, it is mandatory to undergo appropriate training to be able to practice this profession.
As the name suggests, this professional will be responsible for providing psychological first aid courses. A certificate, valid for 3 years, is issued at the end of the 14-hour training course during which the student learns to teach the subject.
Aimed at 18-year-olds who have already completed the Standard First Aid with CPR Level C course, this 32-hour training teaches students how to provide Canadian Red Cross first aid and CPR courses. Candidates will also be trained to lead team or individual work or to teach the principles of trauma prevention or inclusion. A certificate valid for 3 years is issued at the end of the program.

This program is intended for candidates who wish to train professional responders for the Canadian Red Cross. The courses they will deliver will therefore include, among other things, vital care in resuscitation, oxygen therapy, advanced first aid at sea and even management of the respiratory tract.
CPR and first aid instructor certificates have a limited validity period. Their holders must therefore take refresher training to learn new techniques or to strengthen their knowledge and skills. Classes last 8 hours and are entirely delivered online.
