Basic/Emergency First Aid and CPR/AED Level C (formerly Emergency First Aid)

This name change follows an official update by the Canadian Red Cross to align its program with the latest federal legislative requirements for first aid.

The course content, skills taught and certification remain essentially the same.

Learn skills that save lives

The Basic/Emergency First Aid and CPR/AED Level C course gives you the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to an emergency at work, at home or in everyday life.

You will learn how to:  

• recognize an emergency;
• perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
• use an automated external defibrillator (AED);
• respond to choking;
• provide first aid for injuries, sudden illnesses and other medical emergencies.

The course is based on the latest Canadian Red Cross first aid guidelines and meets the CSA Z1210-17 – Basic level standard.

Entirely in-class training (7 hours)

The training takes place in person. You will put what you learn into practice through numerous exercises supervised by a certified Canadian Red Cross instructor.

You will practise:  

• CPR for adults, children and infants;
• using an AED;
• clearing an obstructed airway;
• the recovery position;
• first aid techniques for common emergencies.

The goal is to build your confidence and ability to respond effectively in a real emergency.

After you register

Once your registration is complete, you will receive two emails:

• an email from Impact Santé confirming your registration for the in-class training;

Completion requirements To receive your certification, you must:

• demonstrate proficiency in the skills taught;
• achieve a minimum score of 75% on the written assessment;
• actively participate throughout the course.

Certification

Upon successfully completing the course, you will receive an official certificate in Basic/Emergency First Aid and CPR/AED Level C This certificate is valid for three years.

You can renew this certification through a half-day of practical training. The renewal course for CPR/AED Level C certification is 5 hours long.
