Early Childhood First Aid

The Emergency First Aid – Child Care course is a comprehensive, one-day course for people who work with infants and children.

This training gives you the knowledge, skills and confidence to prevent injuries, recognize an emergency quickly and respond effectively to a child in need.

The course covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), choking, breathing and circulation emergencies, wound care and the management of severe allergic reactions.

With a minimum of 8 hours of in-class training, this course meets the requirements applicable to educational child care services in Quebec.

Learn skills that save lives

This course will give you the knowledge and skills to respond effectively to an emergency involving an adult, child or infant.

You will learn how to:  

• Recognize an emergency and respond safely;
• Follow the “Check, Call, Care” steps;
• Perform CPR on a child or infant;
• Use an automated external defibrillator;
• Respond to an airway obstruction;
• Recognize breathing and circulation emergencies;
• Manage a severe allergic reaction;
• Provide first aid for wounds or bleeding;
• Respond to head, spinal, bone, muscle and joint injuries;
• Recognize various sudden medical emergencies;
• Respond to poisoning or an environmental emergency;
• Help create a safe environment for children.
